Celia Sommer completed her advanced specialty program and Master of Science in periodontics and oral medicine from the University of Michigan. She earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health, a master’s degree in public health at A.T. Still University, and bachelor’s degree in neurobiology from UC Davis.
Dr. Sommer continues to work as a research associate at the University of Michigan researching how to isolate and expand stem cell populations for translation into clinical protocols for bone regeneration. She served as an ambassador for the American Academy of Periodontology Foundation and has been distinguished locally and nationally for her commitment to community and passion for education. She is an active member of the American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, Midwest Society of Periodontology, American Academy of Periodontology, Academy of Osseointegration, Osteology Foundation, International Team of Implantology, and American Dental Society of Anesthesiology.
